Grass Kebabs(world showed its teeth) is a video loop focused on the vulnerability of family businesses and the tension between abandoning or improving a viscous world. It presents dreamlike figures in a contemporary setting, juxtaposed with scenes of food preparation in both restaurant and woodland foraging contexts.
All imagery, audio(đź‘‚on OpenSea etc), and motion are synthesized using custom AI models, some trained on makeup tutorials, fruit skins, street style photography, and plush faux-Shibori quilts.
Jared Madere is an artist and curator based in Berlin and New York. His work has been exhibited internationally at the Whitney Museum, Le Magasin, Amager Bakke, The Istanbul Biennial,The Watermill Center, and more. He has spoken on AI media synthesis at Art Basel Switzerland, Kulturværftets Copenhagen, and has published numerous essays on the topic.
